How to play Piquet
Goal: Have the most points after six deals. 32-card deck (7 up to Ace), twelve cards each. The non-dealer is "elder"; the dealer is "younger". No trumps.
Exchange: elder may swap up to 5 cards for fresh ones from the leftover pile (the "talon"), then younger may swap up to 3.
Declarations (scored automatically — in each category only the better hand scores):
• Point — your longest suit (ties go to the higher card total: Ace 11, K/Q/J/10 10, others their number) → 1 per card in it
• Sequence — your longest run in one suit (ties go to the higher top card) → 3 cards 3, 4 cards 4, 5 → 15, 6 → 16, 7 → 17, 8 → 18; the winner also scores any other sequences they hold
• Sets — three or four of a kind, Tens or higher (four beats three, then the higher rank) → three 3, four 14; the winner scores all their sets
Tricks: you play twelve tricks. Follow suit if you can; the higher card of the led suit wins and leads next. Score 1 for every card you lead, 1 for winning a trick your opponent led, and 1 for the last trick.
Cards: most tricks → +10 · all twelve tricks → +40.
